All of the above. When Phamily Hair Care is applied to wet hair, you are likely to experience more shrinkage, if you have curly or kinky hair. For more stretched curls, apply to hair when it is dry or slightly damp. This product can do anything, and each customer uses it differently because we all have different hair and seek different results. We encourage you to experiment with it.
Phamily Hair Care has a brown tint to provide UV protection. Phamily Hair Care can darken your grays if you want it to. Just apply generously straight from the jar. Many people like this because it extends the time between colorings. However, if you don’t want to alter the color of your gray hair, simply rub a small dab of Phamily Hair Care in the palms of your hands 10-15 seconds before applying, and it turns into a white cream that won’t leave any color or residue once dry.
Once you’ve experienced Phamily Hair Care, you may find that it works well in conjunction with other hair care products. However, Phamily Hair Care was designed as an all in one solution to all your hair care needs. To see how to style your hair using only Phamily Hair Care, please visit our online tutorials page for more styling tips.
You may not have worked Phamily Hair Care completely into your hair. We suggest using the “shingle method” (see our tutorials for a demonstration) to ensure that the product coats each strand and doesn’t just sit on top of your hair. You should also allow your hair to completely dry before taking down twists or braids to achieve the best results.
Make sure you’re using enough product and that you apply from the scalp to the ends of the hair for consistent coverage. Also, when you apply Phamily Hair Care to shoulder-length hair, make sure the product isn’t absorbed by movement/friction with your shirt/neck. To correct this issue, reseal your ends and either loosely pin up your hair or cover your shoulders with a fabric that does not promote friction until it dries. You can always add more product to add additional moisture to help define curls.
Dry hair issues typically occur for two reasons: (1) when you lie down on your hair when it isn’t completely dry, the hair dries together (Phamily Hair Care works as a hair gel); or (2) enough product was not added at application, so it doesn’t dry as moisturized as you would like. Just add more. If your hair feels Dry/Hard with every hair product that you use then you may need to check the quality your water. Hard water is known to increase dryness and cause brittleness.
It is possible to apply too much Phamily Hair Care. This issue likely results from applying the product a bit too heavily in a particular spot or reapplying Phamily Hair Care instead of reactivating the product already on your hair with water. Just mist your hair lightly, let the water absorb for a few minutes, and then run your fingers down your curls from root to end to evenly distribute all the product in your hair.
Your hair’s porosity not only affects the way it looks (e.g., shine, dullness) but it also affects the way your hair absorbs and retains product. High porosity hair absorbs moisture quickly but also can leech moisture and become dry when not properly sealed. Low porosity hair has strands that are difficult to penetrate, and therefore product may rest on top of the hair.
To determine your hair’s porosity, it’s best to examine your hair when you are washing it. Saturate your hair in the shower for a few minutes. Some areas of your hair may take longer to absorb moisture than other parts. This is where you will see that the sections that are pliable and feel full of water have a higher porosity than the parts that are still frizzy and don’t look and feel heavy.
Phamily Hair Care works on all hair types. However, the application will vary depending on the porosity of your hair. Low porosity hair or sections may need to be damp before application to fully absorb the product.
We suggest applying Phamily Hair Care section by section using the “shingle method” (see our tutorials for a demonstration).
Phamily Hair Care can be left on straight hair like a leave-in conditioner or rinsed out like a deep conditioner. It’s really up to you which method works best at achieving the results you want.

Phamily Hair Care actually reduces shrinkage. However, the amount of shrinkage you experience is determined by how the product is applied. If your desired effect is reduced shrinkage, apply Phamily Hair Care liberally to dry hair and add a sufficient amount of product to your ends, which will help stretch your curls as it dries.
We recommend using a clarifying shampoo before your first use of Phamily Hair Care to strip away all other products. Washing the hair three times with the clarifying shampoo that it is squeaky clean and will allow the product to penetrate uninterrupted. You should then generously apply your Phamily Hair Care as needed. After your first use of Phamily Hair Care, you can proceed to use your normal Shampoo/Conditioner.

Braid your hair immediately after applying Phamily Hair Care. You can apply the product in sections and plait as you go. Smaller plaits will decrease your drying time, but you can sit under the dryer to speed the process.

Drying time depends on the length and density of your hair.
1) Do a light or generous water mist—however much your hair needs to get you back to your optimum moisture level. Work the water through with your hands.
2) If your hair still doesn't rehydrate enough after the water mist, run a little bit more product through the hair, taking care to focus on the ends.
If these two steps don't work, only then use trial and error to see what else may assist, but I promise that for the majority of you, these are going to be the only steps that you need to rehydrate the hair and reactivate the product. Phamily Hair Care is definitely low maintenance; it's just not "no" maintenance.
Depending on the length of your hair, you can put your hair into a pineapple (i.e., a loose ponytail on top of your head) and wrap it with a satin scarf before bed. Or simply sleep with a satin bonnet or on a satin pillowcase.
Try misting with water first to reactive the product already in your hair. Only if your hair still feels dry should you apply more product to your ends and problem areas.
Once you’ve applied Phamily Hair Care correctly, your hair will stay detangled, especially if you wash your hair in sections.
This depends on you and how much you apply on wash day. The more Phamily Hair Care you use to condition your hair on wash day, the longer your styles will last. I typically maintain my hair every day, but the maintenance only takes 2–3 minutes. If you need more, add more. Phamily Hair Care is very simple to use!
